Private Coaching with Money Nerd Michelle

Financial coaching is all about YOU.

Odds are good you know your financial weak points, and you’ve done a crap ton of research to try and figure things out, but it’s still hard to tell which general advice applies to your unique goals and situation. Or maybe you WANT to figure things out, but need some support and accountability to get unstuck.

Don’t worry, friend—that’s exactly why we’re here 💕

Much like mental health therapy, the goal of coaching is to dig into your current financial baseline, make space to dream about where you want to be, and then work together to get you there.

Our sessions can provide a blend of brainstorming, thought partnership, education, accountability, body doubling, venting, cheerleading, and deep work on financial systems and processes—but each session will be catered to where you’re at in the journey and your needs in that moment.

All our financial coaching is provided on an hourly basis.

  • 1. Book Online

Choose a time using the calendar tool below, and come prepared with a list of your most pressing financial goals and questions. There’s no formal homework, but knowing your focus helps make the most of our time together.

  • 2. Show Up

You’ll receive a Zoom link before our meeting—simply join at the time, and we’ll dive right in! We’ll focus on what’s most important to you, get done as much as we can, and hopefully leave you feeling more organized and peaceful.

  • 3. Repeat

If we’re done in an our, ignore this phase…but for those who want additional support, we’ll continue to meet as long as you need. You set the session cadence and pay as you go for a flexible coaching experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do financial coaching sessions cost?

I charge $300/hour for financial coaching, a rate that I believe honors my significant investment of time and expertise to learn this stuff, as well as supports our sliding scale programs such as our Radical Wealth Collective Membership. However, some sliding scale spots for private work may be available. Please contact us if you need one of these, and we will do our best to balance your needs and our capacity.

Why don’t you offer a formal coaching program or set number of sessions in a package?

At this point, we have some clients we’ve served for years, while others get what they need in just a few sessions! Structuring our service as an hourly, pay-as-you-go offering helps keep YOU in control of how you receive your financial coaching, rather than working through a rigid program that may not serve you.

When can we meet?

Financial coaching is a process that requires deep focus and emotional labor, so I limit the number of private sessions I offer to 6 per week. This allows me to provide clients with the attention and care they need, while avoiding the burnout that’s common with one-on-one service providers. I currently offer sessions on TUESDAYS, from 2-8pm EST. Due to some personal and family medical issues, I am currently unable to offer other dates/times for private coaching.

What’s your coaching style like?

My goal is to help tailor my style to what you need—some clients thrive with lots of detailed information, other clients want to focus on the big picture. Some clients work intensively in a spreadsheet document, others simply want “thought homework” to carry them to the next session. However, in ALL cases, I’m committed to creating a coaching container where it’s safe to ask questions, and where you get my unconditional compassion for your situation. There’s nothing I haven’t seen, and all of your messy and imperfectly human self is welcome here—I’m here to hold space for all of that, sweet friend.

That said, you should also know that I am neurodivergent, so I’m not very good at providing a lot of proactive check-ins and reminders. I’d love to help you set up systems that are supportive for you, but I trust my clients to reach out to me when they need something, rather than bugging the crap out of them between sessions. I also don’t typically do “tough love” unless directly asked, as I’ve found that a focus on curiosity and compassion is often far more effective than attempting to shame you into a version you’re proud of.

What financial topics can we talk about?

I’m a joyful jack of all trades, which means I LOVE taking about pretty much all things money: mindsets, budgeting, systems, debt, student loans, savings goals, college savings, you name it. However, there are a few big limitations to my expertise:

  • Investment management - While I can teach you investing basics, the differences between account types, and give you general guidance on how to start investing, I can’t recommend specific investment holdings or provide hands-on investment management support at this time.

  • Tax filing - I also run a bookkeeping business, so I’d love to chat biz strategy or help you get organized for tax time. However, I don’t file tax returns for clients, and my advice does not replace specific and targeted support from a CPA or other tax professional.

  • Estate planning - I love helping clients get their documents and papers financially organized, as well as helping with some of the emotional conversations around end of life wishes. However, formalizing your documents requires a special service or work with an estate planning attorney; coaching is not a substitute for this work.

Can I meet Michelle before we get started?

I no longer offer intro calls for coaching, since our hourly rate model is designed to help us hit the ground running right away. The best way to determine fit is to try a session and see how it goes. However, if you have other questions before getting started, please contact us and we’ll do our best to make sure you have the info you need to make an informed decision!

Does the vibe align?

If so, snag a spot on my calendar, and we’ll get started whenever you’re ready!
